adelaide
we have had a fairly terrifying and unexpected experience here this past weekend and i just wanted to share a small bit in case i am absent from this space for a short time or you are waiting for an email back from me.
on saturday morning my little peanut of a niece, adelaide, could not be woken up and was rushed to the local hospital. from there she was airlifted to boston in critical condition. our family has spent the last few days in the hospital waiting and praying for her to get better. luckily, last night things really started to look up and she is now breathing on her own and maintaining a healthy blood pressure without medication.
the doctors are saying she has encephalitis and the cause of the infection has not been found. apparently sometimes the cause remains a mystery. but the important thing is that she does not appear to have any lasting damage and i think she just needs time to heal.
before she was put on the helicopter to boston we were told to prepare for any outcome. the feeling i had at that moment i do not wish on anyone. but my sister and adelaide's father have been absolutely amazing through this crisis. and i am in awe of and so incredibly thankful for modern medicine right now.
so i will be travelling back to boston and not here or in my shop for the rest of this week, i imagine.
please send your positive energy and love to ad. she is the most genius and funny little person. i love her so much.
