Ethan, my oldest child, left for art school this autumn. A few weeks before his departure I was pretty weepy. He's a really kind kid and a pleasure to have around. He's also a bit like his Mum. Only better. The fact that he is an artist is such a gift for me. And he's just so good. I'm excited to see what the future holds for him. Here's a little self-portrait he brought home with him over Thanksgiving.

I have said it before & I will say it again....he is so incredibly talented, and so young....wow. How wonderful that the two of you have such a wonderful relationship. I can only imagine what it must be like to watch your eldest go of to school....and how wonderful to have him home again for a little bit.

Painted portraits are my favorite. I love this one he has made! Beautiful talent. My son is 4 and I am getting weepy thinking about Kindergarten so I can only imagine the feelings you must have had when he went away to school.
He's an amazing artist, and it's so cool you guys have such a nice friendship.
I love how his distinct painting style comes through so strongly, on all the work you have shared of his.
