stencils and tattoos

I was looking for an example of my tattoo as an old stencil on a wall and came upon this place located at the Ames Plantation in Grand Junction, Tennesse. You can read the story of it's relocation and renovation here. When I research original american wall stencil design I'm always in awe of the images I find and always despair over the beautiful work that time and neglect have erased.
I didn't find the image on the web I was looking for but I can recommend this author. She wrote the book about early american wall stencils where I found my tattoo. She has another book about painted floors which is next on my want list of books. The books are filled with a lot of information and color images.

I love that you have a tattoo based on an Early American stencil. I guess because those are two things you wouldn't ordinarily put together in the same sentence. The painted floor book looks amazing, at least from judging its cover. I'll have to go check it out!

Love those wall stencils. And floor painting. A friend of mine painted another friends salon floors... amazing. http://strongriver.net/portfolio/ Edward, the painter, was also working on a project wherein the drywall was removed and behind they found olde wooden billboards, cut and used as building materials. Not sure if he included these images on the site or not, but incredible story and images, wherever they are...

I wish I could be consistent with a blog. I am so inspired this morning but more holiday visits to-day will leave me dry...

I love your stencil pillows....they are some of favorites in your shop. Nice pictures you've shown here. I'd like to know more about this so the book is my list. Nice tattoo! Looking forward to seeing your new one.
