Breathtaking. Taken by Sergei Mikhailovich Prokudin-Gorskii who was hired by Tsar Nicholas II to take a photographic survey of the Russian Empire between 1909-1912, and again in 1915. This was a time just before World War I and the coming revolution. See many more images at the Library of Congress website.
