I am entirely undone over these photographs. Please click the pictures to view large. All by William Gedney. I discovered Gedney via my new favorite blogger, Eva of Mythologie des Lucioles who was introduced to me by Eva of Tinctory!
My great grandmother lived in a log home with a raised porch like that. As kids we would crawl under there and play. We found antique marbles, jacks, make-up compacts, a dough roller and even an enamel bed pan buried in the dirt. eww huh? Very good memories though.
thanks for showing them , they are so amazing , yet, Gedney is still quite unknowned and underestimated ! , i'm glad i'm not the only one to show this major work
My friend Robert J. Mayers and I dug up from the old city dump old bottles for Show and Tell in the late 60s at our elementary school. Once we washed them and presented them as poor ragged boys from the "projects" (lower case), some of the wealthier children in the classroom laughed at us. Mrs. Slaughter (real name, real virtue) took up for us and presented the bottles on her window sill for the rest of the year. I loved her for that--choking up as I write this. One of the children who would have made the photo "display". Steve
