at auction

i thought i would share with you some of the things which peaked my interest and are up for sale at auction houses in  my area.  it's a funny mish-mash.  it brings a question to my mind actually.  what does your taste in objects say about your personality?  i can see my own so well in a group of things which catch my eye like this.  can you relate?

and also, here's another question...why the hey-wow won't my tomatoes ripen??  it's like they are eternally green.  no sign of pink even.  it's beginning to jangle my nerves.

The faded green ladder is a must have, as is the trunk of linens. I think your choices mean you are a thoughtful person looking at the beauty within. People's outlook on life generally is in relation to how they see themselves. Patience on those tomatoes, and if all else fails, think fried green tomatoes, pickled tomatoes, green tomato chutney etc!

gah. all of these are so amazing!!! new england is sooooooo where it's at for wonderful, old, quirky findings. georgia... not so much.

i'd take the trunk full of old clothes, the accordion, and the leather drum thingy with the primitive drawing, the snowshoe?, and maybe the sofa missing the seat. awesome.

i love the bird sketches - the white and black marks on the grey paper, probably never intended for wider viewing so really quite personal. oh and that stove!

How's the weather been in your area? It has to be hot for your tomatoes to rippen. If it gets too cool during the night and not hot enough during the day, they won't ripen. It is hard to believe that any place hasn't been hot enough to ripen tomatoes this summer though. I have had ripe tomatoes for a couple of weeks and we normally don't see them until August.

Actually, if the temps get to high, tomatoes won't ripen then either. I doubt that's your trouble (it has to be over 86) but it's certainly causing some issues for me in Texas (where it's been in the high 90s and low 100s for the past few weeks).
