original 19th century stencil work on board walls can be seen at the stencil house which is open to the public at shelburne museum in burlington, vermont. if you click the image to view it larger it's easier to get past the period furniture and what-nots and see the walls.

Very nice. I was thinking about writing about early American stenciling. Think I will, now that you've inspired me.
