this day

trying to get this soap out of the way as it dries.

below is a paper snowflake courtney gave me last year.
i forget the name of the technique but it's curled and folded and pretty.

and new in the shop this morning:

 hey good morning.

it's cold and just a few snowflakes are falling outside my window.  i did my photo taking and shop stocking early so that i can have a craft session at lunchtime with ethan, eli and courtney.  we're doing some stamp-carving.

i found myself craving minestrone soup yesterday as i ran errands, so i made a giant pot last night and i'm going to heat that up for everybody today.  when i cook i often scan recipes but then make the dish with the book closed.  i guess i use recipes mostly for reference unless it's something fancy i'm not at all familiar with or when i'm baking something more complicated than sweet bread.  this pot of soup had these ingredients:  turkey stock i made after christmas, onions, garlic, carrots, potatoes, kidney beans, kale, canned tomatoes,  and parmesan and romano cheeses.  i think i will add some hot pepper flakes to my bowl today.

nice post. How can I sort in your shop to see all the fabrics from Mali that you have, or related fabrics that is?

hi sara- if you go to my shop the fabric is all in the "supplies" category on the top left hand column.

The soup sounds so good...I am the same way with making food. I look at recipes then do whatever I want. :) My teenage sons are challenging me to cook with more protein...and my youngest is trying to make his wrestlgin weight by tomorrow. I think this soup would fit the bill...

That soap looks beautiful! Is it going in the store, or is it for gifts/family? I like the idea of making a huge batch of soap once a year for everyone in the house. Tried it once and realized I had bought the wrong kind of ingredients and then just put off the task for another time...
