sweedeedee

You wash them clothes
Sweedeedee
And hang 'em on the line
I can see by the way
You wash them clothes
Your cookin' must be fine

I'm with you in the morning
'Til the break of day
And I know everybody
Has a little hard luck
Sometimes
And I know lately
I've been havin' mine
We used to live
In a fleabag apartment
You know the kind
And he come home and he'd say to me
"We gotta leave, leave, leave the city"
You wash them clothes
Sweedeedee
And hang 'em on the line
I can see by the way
you wash them clothes
Your cookin' must be fine
I'm with you in the morning
Untill the break of day
I know everybody
Has a little hard luck
Sometimes
I know lately
I've been havin' mine

ah, I just discovered her because of lou doillon's recent album. you might also like lou's songs; they're very personal, rather sad, and beautifully interpreted. here's a link if you'd like to hear: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5U_mIWJPudw
And agree about wendell berry. I read the wild birds early this year and loved it. he is a national treasure.

something funny about this: 2 amazing ladies just opened up a cafe called sweedeedee here in Portland. they play old records all day long and i have seen mr. hurley hanging around their cafe...small little world. other small fact: you and i will share a little pop-up highlight at maven collective. so happy to share space with your lovely work.
