you should watch this.

"japanese farmhouses are dark.  gradually you can start seeing....the aroma of this house was beautiful.  smell of the earth, smell of the wood, smell of the smoke little bit.  i smelled life, very healthy life, being led in that space."  this is a story of the love of a house and love between people told in pictures at a beautiful, slow pace.

rustic reuse

i can really see myself living in a place like this.  i found the image here, but i didn't see a link to the original source.  i'd love to know more about this place if anyone out there knows more about it/who designed it.  i love this design for it's thinking outside the box concept.  i find a lot of modern architecture cold but at the same time i'm starting to move away from seeing myself in an old home only.  the little cabin i'm living in now isn't old but it has a rustic feel.  in a way i think i can invent a space here without the constraints i felt living in an old new england cape.  i feel a little freer in the environment i can create around me.

the A-FRAME.  architectural blight?  quirky and charming?  if i lived in one would my neck turn red?  and would you live in one?? 

three things i love this morning

First of all, take a look at that little folksy industrial cabin designed by green builder Jetson Green. I always love that corrugated metal siding when I see it. What an awesome material.

The second is an image from the portfolio of designer Kathy Dalwood. The combination of the two textiles on the chair and the picture above are so mega-delish.

And last, I'm getting another tattoo January 2nd and I'm trying to figure out what I want. I need to give the tattooist the design ahead of time so pretty much need to email him a picture in the next day or two. For the last few days I've set my mind on a bracelet with a wavy design and I'm thinking the purple one in the third image. But not purple per se. That's the other thing...should I stay with black/grey or go color? If you have any input please leave a comment.
