first, here are a few new syuhari things i like:
and in other news, yesterday was a bad slash good day for small creatures here at casa enhab. first our cat jasmine
aka jazameen
aka jazzie
aka queen of sheba
aka furry critter killer
brought a very large newly dead chipmunk into the house and lovingly laid it out on the floor by the kitchen sink as a little pressie slash offering. i felt both grossed out and weirdly honored. she's been a super-predator this spring. we have an old house with no screen windows so we use the little flimsy insert screens. jazzie has made convenient "cat doors" aka gaping holes in most all of them so she can wander in and out of the house as she pleases. this makes it super easy to bring in her prey for me. lovely.
then not long after dealing with that unpleasant affair a wee birdie crashed hard into the office window. i ran outside to check it and found something i should not describe here. let's just say i now have an image to attach to the term "death throes." first i burst out in tears. i am fragile as you know. i knealt down with tears dripping to the rocks at my feet and repeatedly apologized to the little thing. "i'm sorry i'm sorry i'm sorry, sob sob sob" then i made a little cardboard death house so it could die in shade.
but listen to this. now, i know you were not there so you may not be able to visualize the gravity of the situation but let me tell you, that bird was in it's last minutes on planet earth. so i checked it every few minutes and was stunned when i found that it had righted its little self and was sitting fairly calmly. here's a picture:
although i decided this was a minor miracle and maybe even a sign slash gift directly for me (and also little bird-friend, obviously) from the "great beyond" that life does indeed do something other than suck sometimes (i kid...sort of) i still felt there was no way this thing would live. you just should have seen it prior to the above picture. so i continued to monitor it. and then...
then...
what do you freaking know. this is what happened then:
end of story.
thank you for reading all the way through.
gold star.
way to fully commit.
xo to infinity,
me

Well...firstly...LOVE that dress!
Secondly...too wierd, we have a Jazzmin,Jazzie Cat...BIG white furr ball...but is an indoor cat, so thankfully we won't received any gifts from her.
And how HAPPY I am to see NO birdie...wow...what a day!
HUGS and may tomorrow bring brighter more cheery happenings.
Char.x.
omg...that is awesome! first, I adore that you were saying "I'm sorry, I'm sorry" and that you made him/her a little shade lean-to( sweetest thing ever). But, the fact that the little bird made a full recovery? AWESOME. This story made my day! :)
xo

hooray for small miracles!!
What a lovely story. I'm so glad the little birdie made it. I was scared to death to scroll down and look at the "death throes" photo.
did the bird fly away or did queen of sheeba find it? not to get all circle of life on you...
Awesome ending to that story! I love that you made the cardboard hut - that is just sweet and kind.
speaking of birds...i have one that for a month this spring would fly repeatedly into my studio window over and over and over, at 2 hour intervals. thump, thump, thump....
we found him dead on the driveway. i'm thinking from mere exhaustion and stupidity. ah sweet circle of life
I want those red shoes!! :D
And the blue dress, jeans with the shoes... looks all really great. Beautiful combination!
Best regards, Marjolijn
Has anyone told you today that your amazing?
the birds at my house do that, too!!!
i can't tell you how many times i have gone into the house with tears in my eyes to search for a box to bury a dear little bird after it has crashed into our huge picture window, only to find it acting as though nothing happened upon my return.
my only explanation is that they go into shock and then snap out of it?
so happy your little birdie is OK.
and, LOVE that denim bag.
hugs.
Your bird story reminded me of one of my favorite songs! It's rather long, so I won't post the lyrics, but here's a link:

Scroll down to paragraph 24-28 (told you it was long!)
Glad your bird had a happy ending!
I love stories like this! I could have cried myself, with happiness.
I know just how you felt! I am so glad you gave him shade, it probably helped him recover!
Perhaps your tears revived him. One of the saddest things I have seen was a mourning dove actually mourning another dove on my deck. I presume the deceased had run into our sliding glass door. The mourner stayed and stayed until I finally got a towel to bring his friend to the woods. Somehow these things seem as emotional as family pets or friends, don't they? Or maybe they allow us to cry all the extra tears we store up from life's events.
thank you all for your comments. let's see:
new dominion- very insightful re. letting go of stored tears.
la bonne- i like you. and you are wonderful.
sarah- i knew someone would approach it from this angle. :) jazzie was fast asleep inside the whole time.
japanese porno site commenter- yes, she is extremely charming.
