laurent reminded me of agnes richter and her embroidered jacket and i can't believe i'd forgotten about it. the stitchwork is incredibly moving and provocative even without knowing the details of the story.
"...Agnes Richter...was confined to an asylum in the late 1800s. There she constructed a jacket from pieces of the institutional uniform, then painstakingly stitched a mysterious autobiographical text into every inch of the inside and outside of the jacket."
