new cushion set available in the shop
....
i've been kvetching over on twitter about my experience trying to quit coffee.  yesterday morning i went cold turkey after realizing i'd been drinking the better part of a quart a morning.

i've quit coffee before and i've experienced the withdrawal headaches but this time i felt really crappy.  i wasn't capable of doing anything yesterday and i alternated between sitting around staring into space feeling sorry for myself and taking naps.

all day.

normally, i don't ever nap!   and i never ever feel sorry for myself!  (ok that last bit was a lie.)

i was worried that this was it...i'd feel completely crummy for the rest of my life and i'd never want to do anything and i'd always lie around sniveling and all enjoyment was over.

but i put my sorry self to bed at 8 PM and i woke up today feeling pretty ok.  i don't feel all zippy and rah rah but i'm also not a depressing blob.
....
also, i recently watched "fat, sick and nearly dead" on netflix.  have you seen?  it got me psyched up to do a 10-day juice fast but in the light of day today i'm thinking that would be tough.  have you ever done it?  what was your experience?

Good job quitting coffee. I have food sensitivities, am aging, have low thyroid, and had a long case of Lyme's d; so I eat lots of vitamix dishes and soups all the time and it gives me tons of energy. The difference in my energy level is startling if I go off. If you want a handful of good recipes let me know. The idea of the paleo diet is good (Dr. Terry Wahls.) 3 cups of goodness 3x a day: leafies for vitamins, broccoli family to remove toxins, different colors to remove toxins also, and good fats and protein. Yum. you will be skipping around in no time. Coco at Roost blog has great gluten free recipes for when you need a treat.

Quitting coffee is awful. I did it half a year ago for a few months and it lasted for only 8 weeks. I quit a lot of things in my life, cigarettes, meat, dairy, you name it, but coffee is by far the hardest. Wish I felt amazing after quitting, but sadly that is not the case. What is it about coffee? But then, any change like that is always an interesting experience. Feel better!

i gave up coffee last january, when i was very sick. i felt so crappy that i didn't even notice the withdrawal. in the past year, i had it once by accident and felt so wired and awful i swore i'd never do it again. (i'm really enjoying my daily decaf now.) wishing you luck!

a few months ago i did a two-week cleanse, no gluten/wheat, sugar, dairy, decaf coffee, or starches. it was really hard but worth it. i'm still gluten-free and mostly dairy-free, and feel infinitely better. i wholeheartedly recommend it. now if only i could really give up sugar...

i quit coffee, but i drink yerba mate which still has caffeine in it. however, i only drink about a cup around 9/10am after i have already been up for a few hours. honestly, the best thing i have found for energy is bragg's apple cider vinegar. put 2tsp of that in a big glass of water and drink that down. it makes me feel great. you can drink that about three times a day if you need to. juice only cleanses seem too harsh for me. maybe a better approach would be to just slowly move more towards a raw food/vegan approach? i try to juice every day (or every other day) and eat more vegetables and hardly any meat. don't shock or punish your body by a harsh "cleanse". just listen to what it craves (fruits, etc.) and adjust accordingly.

I decided to almost-quit. I am doing it a strange way. I stopped buying the beans and switched to instant 'coffee' which tastes crappy but still smells of coffee. I can't take more than a sip or two though so I throw it out later when it's cold. But somehow it works for me - i still get a hot steaming drink smelling lovely. I couldn't switch to juice or any cold drink in the morning. I allow myself a proper coffee once a week or so. Best of luck working this out!
