primitive reproductions

Wow. Pretty convincing reproductions of early American primitive furniture. And I found these on Etsy in a shop called Joseph Spinale Primitive Furniture.

new year's day auction

At the last minute this morning we decided to go to an antiques auction. We were just going to make it there in time for 1/2 hour of the preview but I went out to start my car and.....nothing. Dead battery. So we took P's car knowing that if we found something big we weren't going to be able to get it home. Aaaand, we found something big.

But first let me tell you a couple other things. One chair at this auction went for over $7,000. Yah, no. That was not the item I bought. And I took a shining to the victorian cash register in the top image. It sold for about $80. Not bad at all. But I'd already bought my thing so I didn't wanna go all crazy. I ain't made of money.

What I bought is the big black and glass cabinet in the second image. It's 6 feet tall. And I think circa turn of the century...I'm guessing. It's not dove-tailed. Probably mass-produced. And I'm no expert. But I like it. That's really all that matters when you are at auction. And guess how much I paid? $85. Seriously. It was a good buy. And will make a fabulous cabinet of curiosities. I'm going to pick it up in the morning on the way to get my TATTOO. woohoo.
