new victorian ruralist

this nice blog, the new victorian ruralist, recently did a little post on enhabiten.  i thank them kindly.  the curator has a lovely eye.  i love the blog name and the thin taper candles above can be purchased from their brick and mortar called finders keepers market in lexington, kentucky.

little flower school

when i first started enhabiten and became involved in the online design community it didn't take long for me to wend my way to saipua.  i have to say that as much as i'm in awe of sarah's magic touch with flowers, it is her sense of humor and irreverence i most love.  i often wish we could be face to face when i read her blog so she could see how she makes me laugh!

so when she asked that i come to manhattan to help with this martha stewart living magazine shoot i said yes without hesitation, even though it was perhaps during one of the craziest times of my life.

the experience was a pleasure all the way around.  the women involved are inspiring; the kind of people who help me to stay motivated and know what's possible.  really that's the greatest gift i've received from this virtual community...the expansion of possibilities in my life and work.

so friends, the story is in the february issue of MSL.   jen causey took the photographs, nicollette taught the class with sarah, and jennifer, lena, fay and jenny were my fellow students.

thanks, sarah.  see you at the farm SOON!

i will admit to a little pinterest obsession.  i find it real satisfying to curate boards of visual inspiration.  (well, not so much curate as accumulate.)  i do go back and look at what i have accumulated periodically and i am always struck by how it all fits together to express me.

lately i've had gardening on my brain.  vegetable gardening, specifically.  i'm living in a probably temporary place right now and i'm feeling conflicted about whether to build myself a garden this season or not.

a couple months ago i sent away for seed to grow a dyer's garden.  indigo, weld, dyer's broom, and something else i've forgotten.  but here, i'm surrounded by trees and what isn't trees is already designated as something else.  plus, it isn't really my space to decide what to do with.
...

i have to head out to an appointment this morning but i have a stack of new cushions made.  i'm hoping to get them photographed and in the shop this afternoon, weather willing.
