untitled

“In November 1799 this meteor shower was observed at full moon off the coast of Florida by Andrew Ellicott. He wrote: In every instant the meteors were as numerous as the stars. The storm of the Leonids of 1799 was a key event with the discovery of the 33 years lasting period of the Leonids. This illustration appeared 1872 in the book The Midnight Sky by Edward Dunkin.”

running across rough scree

"Reindeer have the most flexible joints of any hoofed animal- they can scratch their ear with their back hoof and can run across rough scree where a human can barely crawl."
-from The Reindeer People

Don't you love the term "rough scree"?   But doesn't it also sound a little naughty? Or is that just me?

Plus you should click the images to make them larger because you'll be all like, whoa baby!  so do it.

what do you think about?

What do Russia and auctions have to do with one another? Ah, nothing. Except that's what fills my brain today. I've also been looking at videos by the Lithuanian director Sarunas Bartas. Here's an example:

Yep. More Reindeer. I'm thinking about Siberia and I'm thinking about reindeer and I guess it's all a bit dark. But I don't feel dark, just so you know. And I'm wondering about the idiosyncratic wanderings of your mind. Will you share? Seriously. Don't hold back. What do you think about? Do you wonder if anyone else thinks about the same things?

Oh, that upholstered chair up there. It's up for auction tonight.
And. It. Will. Be. Mine.
