pretend vintage shopping

I just pretend shopped on etsy while I drank my morning coffee. My etsy favorites list is kind of out of control. Please feel free to steal any of the items I've amassed there. I may or may not have filched from your favorites list.
I don't know what's gotten into me because I've never been attracted to tooled leather in the past but I pretty much want this bag.
Second, I love how big this vintage pincushion is and the combination of the small cotton print with the over sized and kind of funny lace ruffle. Bring it.
Then the vintage jacket reminds me of my Grandma in a really good way. I'd wear that. While carrying my new tooled bag. Which could conceivably have my ruffly pincushion in it and some portable sewing project. But that might be silly. So yah, I can see me doing it.
Happy Sunday morning to you! Now go drink your coffee and read your Sunday paper. The real paper kind. And be all old school.

don't be jealous

but we just rocked this gingerbread house. at first we thought it was a fail..i miscalculated and ran out of dough, the walls cracked, people kept eating the candy! but lo and freaking behold, i woke up this morning and said to myself, you have got to finish the gingerbread house or this christmas will completely suck. heehee. just teasing.
anywaysssss...i thought you'd want to see it from all angles. the design is copyrighted, however. so don't even try it.

how table runners promote civility

i have a good amount of light weight vintage fabrics. i decided to make some small patchwork pieces for myself to pretty up my table tops and i'm putting some in the shop. having one on my bedroom dresser makes me feel guilty about being so messy and piling up clothing willy nilly rather than putting them away where they belong. sometimes. which is better than no times. and having one on my kitchen table helps me slow down and drink my coffee or tea in a more civilized manner. because civility, my dears, is important in this crazy world. if the table is pretty i stop to appreciate it. the end.

ramble on

Since starting up this blog again yesterday my brain is abuzz with things I want to SHARE with you. A couple times already I've been struck by something I"ve heard or read and I
immediately think, "I want to tell them!"
This first one you may be able to file under the heading NO, DUH ( loved using that phrase when I was eleven and I still love it now that I'm twelve. I know, don't I look younger than that??)
Anyway, I was listening to the radio and this gentleman came on from India who was talking about marketing skin lighener to Indians which has nothing to do with why I'm bringing him up except that he said something that struck me as wise which surprised me because he was marketing skin whiteners to Indians).
This is what he said:
What is truly attractive, especially in a young person, is confidence in yourself, articulation and imagination.
Isn't that good? I mean, I may have added in compassion, sense of humor and good oral hygiene, but damn, skin lightening salesman, well said.

So, the picture is a pillow I made this morning. The ratty (ha, I mean soulfully shabby) green string trim is from an old tablecloth. I love it with this fancy bird o' paradise print.)
