fantasy world real life and vintage dresses

here's the deal:
1. i'm totally into these fancy vintage dresses from carmelized vintage

2. i went free blueberry picking yesterday with jason.  there is an abandoned old pyo field down the road from his place.  i plan to go back a few more times before the season is over.  blueberries all winter, i say.

3. along with the blueberries i brought a tick home with me, too.  why are ticks so gross is my question?

4. i also went swimming at pleasant pond with eli.  which was fun except there was a large group of 13 yo boys playing marco polo and they were kind of dominating the joint.  plus they kept spitting into the water and i'd be lying if i told you i wasn't concerned about the fact that they were probably peeing into it too.

5. an old friend emailed me the other day.  this made me happy.  if you are reading this becky, thank you!

6. i am dreaming about a cabin on a land trust with an apple orchard and sheep.  i'll be visiting this place next week.  dreaming, fantasizing, creating elaborate pictures in my mind of it.  this is what i do.  i have a good imagination.  and when i get excited about something it works overtime.  more on this at a later date.

dear momma

I wanted to share with you one of my favorite Christmas gifts. My son Ethan, my little artist prodigy spawn (heehee), made me a mixed CD. We share the same music taste and he is also a musician so he's always finding great music I may not have unearthed myself. But the music on the CD is not the only great part of the gift. He also typed me a note and playlist and put it all in an old map envelope. Because presentation is important, peoples.
Here are some vids from the artists he included. First a Bondy one:

Makes you want to play the harmonic, no?
And then we have Joanna Newsom because I can't help myself. Will you please pay attention to the lyrics? I think she is amazing with the words to her songs. Genius, really.

And last, here's St. Vincent:

I wanna go to Paris,I wanna go to Paris, I wanna go to Paris, I wanna go to Paris,I wanna go to Paris....If I say it enough times will it happen?

don't be jealous

but we just rocked this gingerbread house. at first we thought it was a fail..i miscalculated and ran out of dough, the walls cracked, people kept eating the candy! but lo and freaking behold, i woke up this morning and said to myself, you have got to finish the gingerbread house or this christmas will completely suck. heehee. just teasing.
anywaysssss...i thought you'd want to see it from all angles. the design is copyrighted, however. so don't even try it.

and here are some pictures of my house

joshing. joshing. i wish.

I'm not really all shabby chic but I love the picture placements on the bedroom walls (not to mention the colors in the pictures- that deep red is A is for Awesome) and the brown bedspread to balance out the sweetness. Plus, painted wood paneling equals I wanna make out with it. I shouldn't say that. You aren't supposed to make out with walls. But aren't all those urges kind of in the same territory...you know, good shoes, chocolate, a yummy room, and well....right... Top picture via interior divine.

There's a lot to like in the middle picture but the stupid truth is that I keep staring at the stuff on the top of the shelves. And mostly just that painting with the pale green/blue background. Is it just that square of color that elevates the whole picture for me? And did I just use the word elevate in my analysis of a magazine picture? I need help. This picture was taken by Jordi Canosa.

The three elements in the last image that are the trifecta of the room are clearly the pink paint on the window casing, the chandelier and the giganta file cabinet. Without those things this room would be, well, kind of like my house. Picture Marie Claire Maison

j morgan puett

Even though these images have been widely blogged I couldn't not add some to my own little internet corner. I love the spaces she creates. I identify strongly with her aesthetic. Here's her website. There is a lot to explore there beyond her living spaces including installations, clothing, food styling and workshops..

Paper Bird

I have been listening to this song obsessively for a couple days. Because I'm in love with it. And that cute singer girl on the left is really adorable, no? And if I could change one thing about myself it would be that I could sing. In public. Without getting booed. Well, actually, in my fantasy world people don't just refrain from booing, they clap wildly and some even have tears in their eyes when I sing. From the overwhelming emotion of it all. Yes, it is a rich and self-centered fantasy world!
