morning to ya.
yesterday we noticed a little field mouse youngster skipping around the floor here at casa enhab. after a little internets research we decided the little hopper is about 4-6 weeks old and in that period where it's exploring away from mama. we decided to catch him and release him outside behind the house. thinking he'd find his way back to the nest which is most likely under the house. but guess what? an hour later he was scurrying around indoors again. silly mouse. his informal name is now mr. willy. or little willy. snicker snicker. i know, i'm immature.
so i know what i did next was not the right solution for a person who is trying to get rid of a mouse but i couldn't help myself. i started to leave him little mousie snacks on the floor. he's had almond slivers, watermelon, leftover oatmeal, kashi cereal. he's a healthy eater.
anyway, now what?
beyond that, it's flipping hot here. and i'm working on this funny crooked house painting and patching and stuff. and sending out enhabiten orders. and jumping in the swimming pool outside my door every once in awhile. are you jealous?
i'm also having intense dreams and reading about dream research and interpretation and thinking about that a lot. continuing my train of thought from yesterday, i am for the first time in my life really sitting with some thoughts and ideas instead of flitting on to the next thing. so the dreams, i find myself sitting quietly and really turning them over in my head and giving them their true due attention. swimming out deep with them if you will.

DIY shelves + seedlings
yesterday i got myself an old wooden door and took it apart. it was real weathered with rusty nails throughout so it took some doing to dismantle it. then this morning i cleaned the boards up and hung them with some L-brackets.
a carpenter i am not and i had some trouble finding the studs. wall studs, that is. so the brackets are kind of uneven and wonky. but still the project didn't turn out half bad, eh?
i have one more long board i think i'll use in my studio area and several shorter ones i'm going to hang in an as yet unknown location. total cost for the project so far is less than $30.
i also wanted to show you some of the plants i have this year. i grew some basil and tomato plants from seed and bought calendula, holy basil, chamomile, hyssop, lady's mantle, skullcap and stevia for my herb tea garden. now i just have to get it all in the ground somewhere.

greetings from chaos.
fyi- it's really a challenge to work out of piled up boxes. particularly if you are like me and let the contents of said boxes spill out all over and co-mingle when you are searching for something rather than put stuff away and also if you tend to pack boxes without any rational organization. but to be fair to myself, i can't really put anything in a permanent spot because my sister's family and i are temporarily living in the same small house and nothing can have a place yet. so anyway...
life is really cuckoo for me.
but i'm forging ahead. because that's just what we do. right?
above are some mediocre pictures of where i'm living. i chalkboard painted a couple walls already. and other formerly bright yellow walls are half painted white. i painted around boxes and furniture. my poor sister. she hasn't even moved out and i'm painting around all her stuff. to keep myself busy. painting is an activity i can do when i can't get my mind to focus on other things. it's automatic and rhythmic and i can even watch a million old episodes of "ghost whisperer" while i do it. no thinking involved.
i love "ghost whisperer." laugh if you must. i feel no shame.
so that's the deal with my life. what's going on with you?
oh also, i'm having a 50% off sale in my shop on some ready to ship pillows and vintage items. here's a link to the shop section. some things were already on sale and i reduced the prices by half again. crazy.

snow day
i made some snow day french toast for breakfast. the syrup came from a farm friend up the road, the eggs came from my chickens and the bread came from a local bakery *free* because another farmer friend of mine picks up all their day olds destined for the trash and she shares with me. AWESOME. also, let's see how far i can take this: the plate and mug came from the transfer station swap shop, the lace table cloth was given to me...
here's my living room currently. there's the dresser i bought at auction, remember? i moved it in here the other day and started moving pictures on the walls around but didn't finish. you know how when you get something new it causes a chain reaction like that? also if you look closely you can see 2 laptops...all my kids are home today plus husband. i want to finish rearranging but i like to do it without an audience..know what i mean? and this is the view from the office where i sit at the computer. you can see the unfinished office wall in the doorway. it's been like that for, um, 2 years or so. real life, people.
backyard snow!
put some more things in the shop this morning. i've still got a lot more but will have to wait till this storm passes to photograph the rest.
mucho smoocho,
