weekend

it was a good one.  we took some polaroids, found some things at the fleamarket and yard sale.  the little pot above was a dollar, also a dollar- a book about early new england grave stone carving, another in german about chinese landscape art.  also got a cheap old trunk with nice pressed metal and this old painting on paper, the water being my favorite part.

today i'll sand some small salvaged wood pieces i cut over the weekend and work on making some paintings out of them over the week.

this weekend i thrifted some clothes, visited my almost 21 yo daughter liv, met a friend's brand new baby eleanor, ate french toast and souvlaki and pizza and drank cheap light beer.  i also went to see the movie  the place beyond the pines.

what did you do? i REALLY wanna know!

this weekend:

we got 2 feet of snow and when i opened my front door saturday morning i laughed.  and i took a picture.  i baked bread.  i squeezed citrus and mixed all these kinds of fruit together into a big pulpy glass of yummy juice.  and we watched obselidia.

today i'm working on upholstering a couple thrifted stools to put in the shop.  i already took a blow torch to the wooden bases of said stools to give them a crispy black surface.  very satisfying!

i'm looking forward to this weekend.  highlights: a visit with my daughter and a visit to an art museum.  i want to enjoy this warm weather we're having before the storm which is all the news here and heading our way early next week. 

i finally started a big project this afternoon which i've been putting off- scrubbing, priming and painting all the dang woodwork in this little house.  you know how when you start a project like this and get up close and personal with your environment you notice things you usually pretend don't exist such as a super scummy kitchen stove and hood/fan?  i'll clean it as well as i can and remind myself i'm just renting anyway.

on a positive note, about an hour ago as i scrubbed i had a bright idea for a perplexing decor issue.  i have one wall of wood i don't really want to paint but it's currently stained a pukey orange/red color...can't i just stain over it with grey/black stain?  please advise.

also, i put a few new things in the shop HERE and added new stuff to the sale section as well as further lowering some of the prices on already discounted stuff HERE.

morning.

weekend: i drove to boston with ethan.  and i finally picked up my bike from the old house.  it's been months since i stopped going to my yoga class and i need to move my body again.  hopefully having the bike helps.  i also tried to pick peaches but the season just ended.  good thing apple season lasts awhile.   i've already got a big bag of apples picked  but i'll go again soon.  the orchard we went to last week was just beautiful.  i'd heard a rumor that the apple crop wasn't great this year but you could've fooled me...the trees were covered in perfect fruit.
