new at enhabiten

some of the new things in the shop today include these handmade salvaged wood stools or end tables.  i'm excited to offer these!   you can purchase them singly at $50 a piece or the set of 3 for $120.  contact me for a ship quote or if you'd like to purchase all 3 at the discounted price.  there's also an upholstered stool and a variety of dyed vintage textiles, big and small.

chevron and sunrise

hey ho.

as i've mentioned, i'm happy to be expanding enhabiten this year.  you'll be able to find all the organic, sustainable, handmade, hand-dyed and vintage textiles but we'll also have wood, leather and metal.

the raw materials are always the inspiration and starting point for enhabiten goods and i'm super excited about expanding the horizon with new material to work with in 2013.

i've put these wood pieces in the shop this morning!

they are made entirely with found and salvage: wood, metal, leather.  i hope you like them!

i have plans to incorporate wood and metal into my shop this year and that first picture up there is a little peek at a new offering at shop enhabiten.  salvaged wood art/wall pieces will be added early next week.  i can't wait!

and some new cushions and a change/card purse are available now in the shop.

also, thank you so much, friends, for the comments and emails regarding my sore elbow!  i appreciate the thoughts and the suggestions for healing.  there's kindness out there.  that makes me happy.

new indigo in the shop this morning
...
i'm dyeing some hemp canvas today along the way to becoming black fabric.  it's a process which takes several days and several dye baths and several plant and mineral materials to come about.
...
i'm also pondering the heating situation here where i live.  the woodstove is too small to heat even the 2 rooms we live in.  and the size requires me to wake up a few times a night to add more wood which isn't fun.  part of the problem is also the fact that the place is poorly insulated so i may be able to rectify that a bit before winter really sets in.  there is an alternate heat source of a propane fueled unit but i don't like using it for multiple reasons.  so anyway, i ponder.

and i did do some solid work here recently, aesthetically speaking,  and i will share some pictures soon but i'm needing to focus on work and other projects before..

hand-carved wood

i stumbled on peter follansbee's blog this morning and got pretty into the images he posts of hand-carved wood.  his work is reproducing 17th century furniture with hand tools.  makes him a cool dude in my book.  the last two images are of handmade door latches.  i fancy them.
